People out there… Mycroft IS NOT married, wedding rings go to the left hand not the right and Gatiss said Mycroft’s ring isn’t a wedding ring but he likes to think it has a “meaning” anyway.
If you do a bit of research it could mean many things, from him being a widower to him being homosexual. For example some homosexual couples used to get matching rings and put them on their right hands when they were not allowed to marry, or they currently do in countries where they still can’t (not everyone of course).
It intrigues me to no end and I’d spend all of my time speculating about its origin if I didn’t have a thesis to write
I did a little comic once but it turned out horrible so I’m saving that idea for later =)
Photographic evidence: sort of…

I find it irritating, to say the least, that suddenly many of the most fervent John/Sherlock shippers feel the need to apologize and state that they don’t ship them in canon.
It’s all just a game, they do not want anything to happen in canon and so on…
WHY?
What would be wrong with them developing a deeper relationship, maybe a romantic one in canon? Wouldn’t both Sherlock and John be happier?
Sherlock is lonely, John can’t keep a stable relationship.
I agree on the fact that hysteric fangirls bugging the actors or the writers are embarrassing and I wish they could stop and I find it deeply irritating when people manipulate photos of Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch to make it look like they’re flirting or just together.
Head-replacing? COME ON…
But this was not the point I was trying to make.
I don’t want John and Sherlock to have on screen hot and naughty sex scenes, like in the fanfictions the aforementioned fangirls like to read, but, seriously, what would be wrong with a new development, a contemporary one, on their classic relationship?
I usually can’t read fanfiction about Sherlock I just stop after a few lines, ‘cause they feel wrong, stupid and out of character. And I guess this shows how people do not want to make an effort and try to figure out how a romantic relationship between them would work.
With characters like that it would be interesting as hell and they wouldn’t even need to get out of character.
Why can’t we hope to finally get a serious and thought through male-male relationship in a popular tv series? Without making a big deal of it or it turning into Queer as Folk? Why do you apologise?
Wouldn’t it be better if you just took your fanwork seriously (this doesn’t mean you can’t make funny jokes or things like that) so that you wouldn’t need to feel sorry or ashamed because of that (you can obviously draw, write read whatever you want but I think it’s stupid feeling sorry for it afterwards)?
It the fans themselves think a romantic relationship between them is taboo no wonder Moffat says what we all know he said about it!
